Information contained in these bulletins is intended for APWU members. Member questions and/or comments regarding any flash bulletin content are always encouraged. Reading of publications prepared for and financed by dues paying members by those who do not is yet one more example of non-members accepting benefits that have been paid for by others!

Minneapolis Area Local Membership Drive News!

Effective June 30, 2007, the latest membership drive of the local was concluded.  Retroactively from January 1st we have welcomed 30 new members into our APWU Union family!  On Monday, July 16th we drew from the names of our organizers and new members for our incentive prizes of $500 for an organizer and $100 for one of the new members.  The winners are:  $500 Lorne Henkel and $100 Lee Wendorf!  Additionally all organizers will be getting their cash incentives of $100 each in the immediate future!  Although this drive was a success we still have much work to do with ensuring all remaining non-members get the message....There is no excuse for failing to contribute to the only organization that sustains your job and the benefits you enjoy!  Join your Union and then have a voice to change whatever it is you would like to see change!

3rd Annual Chad Judge Memorial Fishing for Scholarship Tournament.

Saturday, August 25, 2007

The Big Lake Area Jaycees are sponsoring this event on behalf of Chad Judge!  Chad drowned in Lake Mitchell on July 27, 2004 while fishing and was the son of APWU member Sheila Judge. This tournament helps to commemorate Chad’s love for school, sports and life!  Most of the proceeds raised will go toward scholarships (5 $1000 scholarships were awarded to the class of 2007) to be given to the Big lake Class of 2008.  Sponsors are not only trying to ensure this most worthwhile event can continue but also seeking to enhance it in all aspects.

This year’s tournament will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2007 on Big Lake.  Entries will be limited to 35 boats with a limit of 2 people per boat.  Entrance fee is $135 per boat.  The tournament will start at 7:00 AM with lunch, silent auction and prize awards taking place between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. at the Big lake American Legion.  Prizes are $1000 for first place, $650 second and $450 for third place!

Those seeking more details can contact Sherrie Spitzengel at 763-263-5761. Tournament entry forms are also available by calling our North East Union Office at 612-623-0677.

COPA Thermometer breaks the $6000 level!

On Friday, July 13, 2007, our COPA Thermometer broke the $6000 level!  Nearly 65% of contributors have opted to make their donations as effortless as possible by initiating their contribution through Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) or Postal Ease (PE)!  Our yearly goal is to break the $20,000 top out of our COPA Thermometer!  Many more drawings may still take place and it’s never too late to contribute to these funds that do so much to help protect our jobs and benefits! See your Steward with help joining, with Postal ease or any other questions!

In keeping with our 2007 COPA club incentives we have drawn the names of COPA club members who will be presented with $100 each!

Congratulations to:  Eliseo Tongco, William Hengen, Larry Stimac, Tony Fahey (Minneapolis P&DC), Jerry Kolb (MVS) and Irene Lungay (BMC). Your checks are on their way!
