Flash Bulletins are paid for by members of the APWU. Information contained in these bulletins is intended for APWU members. Member questions and/or comments regarding any flash bulletin content are always encouraged. Reading of publications prepared for and financed by dues paying members by those who do not is yet one more example of non-members accepting benefits that have been paid for by others!

URGENT MESSAGE FOR TWIN CITY METRO HUB (TCMH) EMPLOYEES!

Please be advised that the Union has recently become aware of records fraud by TCMH manager(s).  Unfortunately, the Union has been improperly denied the information that is necessary to ensure the issue has been properly and equitably addressed by higher level managers.

The Union is currently engaged in an ongoing investigation of this issue and will be taking all appropriate actions necessary in order to achieve full disclosure of all administrative action management has taken in order to ensure they have not engaged in disparate treatment of Bargaining Unit Employees.

The Union has evidence that indicates TCMH employees may have had bogus disciplinary actions entered into their Official Personnel Folders (OPF) without their knowledge.  There is also evidence to indicate forged signatures have been used in order to give the appearance that disciplinary actions were properly administered.

Verified falsification of official USPS forms by bargaining unit employees has routinely resulted in their discharge from the USPS.  The Union feels that persons in position of authority must be held to at least the same standard of conduct as the employees they supervise and it can be logically argued that a manager’s standard of conduct should be at a higher level. Even more disconcerting than supervisors engaging in these type tactics is when their higher level managers refuse to give a full account of what has been done to correct this extremely serious breach of USPS rules and regulations.

The Union is extremely disturbed by the present administration of Postal Service rules where Bargaining Unit Employees are treated with ZERO TOLERANCE and probable dismissal, while managers are not, for violating the same rules and regulations!

We will utilize all resources available in order to force management’s compliance with our Collective Bargaining Agreement, and the laws, rules, and regulations they are entrusted to uphold.  In the interim we advise all employees to send a written request for copies of their OPF to:

Custodian of Records
Northland District Personnel Office
PO Box 645004
St. Paul, MN 55164-5004

Make sure you include a date along with your Name, address and Employee Identification Number (EID). Obtaining a current copy of your OPF may be of extreme importance to TCMH employees at this time.

ADVICE FOR ALL EMPLOYEES REGARDING OFFICIAL PERSONNEL FOLDERS!

Due to the continuing migration of Personnel Services to North Carolina and/or to digital record keeping the Union advises all employees to obtain their current OPF.  The entire procedure that can greatly impact your job and benefits is in constant evolution.  Additionally, with what so far has been a lack of timely and advance communication to affected employees we strongly advise you to make sure you have the most recent copies of all your employment records!

COPA NEWS!  Thermometer exceeds $6,000 and yields SIX MORE $100 WINNERS!

Just when you thought the temperature couldn’t get any hotter our 2006 COPA thermometer has broken the $6,000 benchmark and we have 6 more $100 winners!  As we cruise up to our big September 16, 2006, COPA CLUB APPRECIATION & CASINO NIGHT many members have taken the opportunity to not only protect jobs and benefits but to get in on the free food, beverages, and casino games that will be part of the action on September 16th

Pursuant to COPA CLUB rules, membership is accomplished by either contributing at least $10.00 in cash or through minimal bi-weekly donations through PostalEase or Electronic Fund Transfers.  The job insurance these funds help provide are astronomical and the potential to reap cash rewards for a minimal donation is better than any odds at a local Casino!  Take the time to enroll now….enter prior to the event and by August 30th so our records reflect your name and entry to the September event is free!  Your Steward can provide you with user easy enrollment forms, or just call 612-623-0677 and this information can be sent to you!

We have previously announced 6 winners each time we broke a $2000 level on our thermometer and with this drawing we will have had 16 winners of $100 each!   In addition to all the great benefits mentioned above we still have 7 benchmarks left which could give you 42 chances to win $100!  CONGRATULATIONS TO our $6000 benchmark winners:  Richard D. Anderson (Mpls Clerk), Kathy Walker (TCMH Clerk), Tim Liljeberg (Retired Clerk), Bruce Helmke (MVS), Jim Henry (BMC Clerk), and Coreen Straiton (Mpls Maint). Your checks are on their way and we’ll hope to see you at the September 16, 2006, COPA CLUB APPRECIATION & CASINO NIGHT!
