Veteran's Affairs Coordinator

Your Veteran's Affairs Coordinator is Bob Arleth.

Hello to all. I started my career at the USPS May of 2004 as a mechanic in the VMF where I still work today, so in retrospect I am the new kid on the block. My involvement in the union has been mostly attending meetings and volunteering as part of the security team at last year’s COPA drive party. I have been looking for a good place to help. My motto is “Be part of the solution and not part of the problem.”

The reason the position as Veteran Affairs Coordinator stood out as a good opportunity for me was simple. I am a 10% Disabled Veteran. I am very lucky in the fact I was a peace time vet and did not see any combat situations and was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Army in 1988. As a lot of vets will tell you, the Army can be a dangerous place without being at war – and my injuries were due largely to my own stupidity. When I got out of the service some very special vets from the VVA and AM-VETS helped me through hard times. I owe these people my life. They were Vietnam era vets who were not treated very well when they returned to the USA. That never deterred them from helping their own. I am hoping I can repay a giant debt by helping the vet of a new era and their families. I can be reached via e-mail at vetaffairsliaison@yahoo.com.

Thank you,
Robert Arleth
