Officers & Staff

President & Executive Board Member

Your President is Jerry “Bull” Sirois

Hello Brothers and Sisters. I am pleased to have this opportunity to introduce myself to you! I began my Postal employment in August 1973 and have been a Union member from the outset. In May 1986 I became actively involved in our Union and since that time I have held the positions of Steward, Vice President Nights; Clerk Craft, Vice President Tour 1A; Clerk Craft, and Clerk Craft Director where I served from 1992 until elected as President in May 2001.

Being a Steward and Officer since 1986 has required me to wear many hats as I have strived to provide our membership with the representation that is demanded by people I sincerely feel are the greatest Postal Workers in the world! The responsibility I have taken on has only been surpassed by the reward that comes with having had the opportunity to help people gain resolutions to a variety of problems.

During my time serving the union perhaps my most treasured experience is the opportunity I have had to meet a multitude of very special people through the union and these opportunities are ongoing as I have been honored to serve as your Local President.

Serving as your Clerk Craft Director for nine (9) years required most of my attention to be focused in the grievance procedure. In the last three plus years as your Local President, my duties have expanded and diversified as responsibilities are in all facets, for all APWU represented crafts, and to serve as a diplomat for our Union with the public.

Without a strong cast of Officers and Stewards, the job as Local President would be very difficult at best and I would be extremely limited in what I could take on. However, due to the group I have been blessed to be associated with I have been able to venture into areas that we feel will reap benefits and acknowledgement for all members of the APWU.

Our long range survival will ultimately depend on the support of the entire labor community and especially with the public we serve. Because of your outstanding corps of officers and stewards who take care of our essential duties in a professional and distinguished manner, my time has been free to create the underpinnings to transform our union from a union of isolationism to one of favored partner in the labor community and American public. Thank you for placing your trust in me to serve as President of the Minneapolis Area Local, APWU!
