Officers & Staff

Administrative Assistant – MAL-APWU

Your Administrative Assistant is Sheila Niemczycki.

I was hired by Frosty Newman in 1968 as an Office Staff Employee for what was then the Minneapolis Clerks’ Union: the United Federation of Postal Clerks. The UFPC Local merged with the 4 other craft unions in 1970 to become the American Postal Workers Union and it has been my good fortune to work with every APWU Local President in Minneapolis since that time.

I am your behind the scenes worker that maintains the mechanics and consistency of your office systems, and support your Officers and Stewards as they work for you, the Membership. It has been my job over the years to establish and maintain your Grievance, correspondence, & labor management archives. I also maintain all the necessary official documents required by the Department of Labor and the IRS. You will most likely hear me answer the phone when you call the NE APWU Office.

There have been many changes in your jobs and mine throughout the years, but the heart and soul of the Postal Service and the Union has always been you, the Postal Worker. I can honestly say that postal people and retirees hold a special place in my heart. You have been co-workers and friends throughout the years. I sincerely appreciate the job you do day in and day out.

In my position, I have had the unique opportunity to work with the many outstanding officers you have elected from your ranks to lead your Local Union. I regularly watch your officers take on difficult challenges – I wish every member could witness the earnest dedication, integrity, and hard work your officers put forth on your behalf. It is easy to understand why the Minneapolis Local enjoys a superb reputation throughout the APWU and the country.

I am proud to work for the officers, members and retirees of the Minneapolis Area Local, APWU. Thank you! I can be contacted at our main phone line 612-623-0677.
